Participatory Budgeting Initiatives
The participatory budgeting initiative is a grant program available to community-based organizations to conduct a democratic process through which community members directly decide how to allocate a portion of a public budget. In the context of violence reduction programs, PB allows community members to have a direct say in how funding for violence reduction initiatives should be allocated in their community. This can empower individuals and communities to identify and address the specific issues that are causing violence in their neighborhoods.
