Welcome... to the White Mountain Trails Photo Contest, a public photo contest benefiting Alpine Trail Stewards and the trails we care for. Share your unique view of Arizona’s Eastern White Mountains and help us showcase the trails we all love while supporting the work that keeps them open and cared for - one photograph at a time.

Prizes

First Place: $50 in each category

Second Place: $25 in each category

All 12 winning photographs will be featured in the 2027 White Mountain Trails fundraising calendar benefiting Alpine Trail Stewards.

Winners will be announced and their photographs displayed at the Fall Trails Celebration on October 16, 2026. Attendance is not required to win.

Contest Dates

Photo submissions:

September 7 at 8:00 a.m. through September 22 at 11:59 p.m.

Public voting:

September 23 at 8:00 a.m. through October 2 at 11:59 p.m.

All times are Arizona time.

The Gallery Opens September 23

Photographs are being submitted and reviewed now, but they will remain hidden during the submission period. All approved entries will be revealed together when public voting opens on September 23.

If you’ve already entered, don’t worry, your photograph hasn’t disappeared! Come back September 23 to explore the complete gallery and vote for your favorites.

Hikers, equestrians, cyclists, and the human side of outdoor recreation.

Trails Through the Seasons

Autumn colors, snowy paths, spring blooms, and shaded summer corridors.

The Trail Ahead

Trail stewards in action and the results of their care - trail work, cleared paths, steps, bridges, signs and other trail features, old and new.

Before You Submit

• Each person may submit up to two photographs total, entered in two different categories.
• Photographs must be your original work and taken on or near a trail in Arizona’s Eastern White Mountains.
• Cell phone and camera photographs are both welcome. Please submit the original, highest-resolution file available.
• Landscape orientation is preferred for the calendar, but portrait photographs will also be accepted.

About Alpine Trail Stewards

Alpine Trail Stewards is a volunteer-driven nonprofit working to keep trails throughout Arizona’s Eastern White Mountains open, safe, and enjoyable for everyone.

So far in 2026, our volunteers are approaching 2,000 hours of service and have cleared approximately 40 miles of trail. That work directly improves the experience of everyone who follows these paths, and this contest gives us the opportunity to see the trails through the eyes of the people who enjoy them.
