DIG Round 1 - Annual dpi Competition 2026 - Open Colour

FIRST ROUND OF THE DIGITAL PROJECTED IMAGE OF THE YEAR, 2026 - OPEN COLOUR
This annual dpi competition is open to all members (including overseas members) of the RPS Digital Imaging special interest group. The competition is split into two classes: Class 1 - Open Colour; and Class 2 - Open Mono. The Raymond Wallace Thompson Trophy: 'Digital Projected Image of the Year' will be awarded to the overall winner.
This PollUnit page relates only to the first class- Open Colour.
Colour images of any subject and of any style are allowed in this class. However, these images should look ‘real’ after the photographer has made adjustments such as levels, cleaning, cloning, etc. The top fifteen (15) images- as determined by the external selectors- will go through to the final round which will be held later in the year.
Images will be selected on their pictorial merit with the emphasis on interest, visual impact, composition and technical excellence. Images may be enhanced in camera or using software. Images that might normally be judged to ‘nature rules’ will be judged in this competition on their pictorial merit only.
Images complying with the Altered Reality or Open Mono definitions are not allowed in this round.
The Selectors will be particularly looking for new work that has not been previously seen in competitions and exhibitions.
Each entrant may submit up to three (3) images in each class. These need to be clearly marked 1, 2, 3 in the title. You are guaranteed to have images 1 and 2 accepted for assessment by the selectors; please note - image 3 will be at the discretion of the organiser depending on the volume of images submitted for the class.
