Finalists ~ BMDCA2023 Far Out Photo Contest
BMDCA 2023 Far Out Photo Contest Finalists
- The contest received 344 total entries, which were judged by three award-winning photographers (click here for bios):
- Cindy Burnham, a professional photo journalist;
- Stephen Parsons, a dog breeder with a Masters in Fine Arts (MFA) in Photography;
- Kim Perry, a Berner owner who has won a Best Photo in Show as well as the People's Choice Award multiple times in previous Photo Contests
Contest rules stipulated that entries must be full-color (except those entered in the Black & White category), the work of the named photographer (amateur photographers only), and not be heavily filtered, edited or altered. Photo captions were encouraged; identifying information was omitted so professional judging and People's Choice voting could occur without bias.
Round One (First Cut): Images were independently scored, tabulated and a cut was made. Images that "made the cut" in the first round advanced to the second round by scoring in the top ten of at least two of the three judges.
Round Two (Finalists): Scores from Round One were discarded. Each image was independently scored again, based on critera developed by the judges: Story Telling & Creativity; Composition; Technical Quality in Capture; Overall Impact. 1st - 4th in each category will be determined by total combined score from all three judges.
Final Round: 1st Place in each category will advance to Best in Show.
Best in Show, category placements & People's Choice winners in each category will be announced in the Tuesday issue of the Specialty Newsletter.
