February 2023 Advice Session

This is an advice session, not a competition.

SUBMITTING PHOTOS

1. When uploading a file, it helps us if you use "your name- photo title" as your filename. Then, edit that in the appropriate Photographer and Photo Title fields of Poll Unit submission page.
2. Be sure to add a description to your upload. Give background about your photo and ask specific questions for feedback.
3. You can submit 2 photos for advice here. Or you can submit 1 photo here and 1 photo in the theme competition uploader. Or you can submit 2 theme photos in the theme uploader. During an advice session month, we use only your highest scoring image toward the '22-'23 cumulative points.

COMMENTING

1. You are NOT required to submit a photo in order to comment on the ones uploaded.
2. Click on a photo; go to bottom right of screen to click on balloon icon to enter comments, text icon to view description, or rectangle icon to go to full screen.
3. When giving advice, view these on a big screen - desktop monitor or cast to a TV monitor. In particular, smart phones will not give a realistic view of image quality.
4. When commenting on photos, think about the following aspects: Impact, Creativity, Style, Composition, Center of interest, Lighting, Subject matter, Color balance, Technical excellence, Technique, Storytelling, and Emotion. Be as specific as possible with your suggestions.
5. When making suggestions, please use "I" statements such as "I feel" or "I think" so the reader is clear that this is your opinion.
6. Please try to comment on at least five photos.
7. If a particular photo has several comments already, please find a photo that has less comments so everyone can get feedback.
