Every online service consumes energy and resources. We believe software companies should take responsibility for their environmental impact.

Since 2022, PollUnit has dedicated approximately 8% of its gross revenue to global forest restoration projects. Every purchase contributes directly to planting trees, helping restore forests around the world while supporting organizations that protect our planet.

Why We Do It

Sustainability is not a marketing campaign for us. It is part of how we build our company.

We believe successful software businesses should give something back to nature. Instead of making promises about being »carbon neutral«, we focus on continuously reducing our environmental footprint and supporting long-term forest restoration.

Every Purchase Plants Trees

Every day PollUnit automatically purchases trees based on the revenue generated by our platform. Approximately 8% of our gross revenue is dedicated to global reforestation projects.

Rather than supporting only a single organization, PollUnit randomly selects one environmental organization each day from a carefully curated list maintained through Plant-for-the-Planet. Different organizations restore different ecosystems using different tree species, allowing our contributions to support biodiversity across multiple regions.

Every customer contributes to this effort. The more PollUnit grows, the more forests can be restored.

Responsible Infrastructure

Sustainability influences every infrastructure decision we make.

When selecting technology partners we evaluate three equally important criteria:

This helps us build a reliable platform while supporting responsible companies and reducing unnecessary environmental impact.

Powered by Renewable Energy

Both PollUnit offices operate on renewable electricity.

One office is supplied by an on-site photovoltaic installation that produces more electricity over the course of a year than the office consumes. The renewable electricity also powers our electric company vehicles.

Whenever possible, we choose renewable energy over fossil fuels.

Transparency Matters

We do not claim to be a carbon-neutral company.

Running online software always requires energy, hardware, and infrastructure. Rather than making unrealistic promises, we believe in being transparent about our impact and continuously improving it.

By combining responsible infrastructure decisions with an ongoing commitment to forest restoration, we aim to leave a smaller footprint while giving something back to the environment.
