Difference between "Invitation required" and "Allow access only with invitation"; How to input email addresses

In a garden club photo contest we want to limit who can upload images to members only. We can send invitations to those members so they are the only ones who have the link. I want to understand how these two settings that seem to be saying the same thing differ.

Also, even though I checked "Invitation required" I didn't see a way to input the members' email addresses or how to distribute the invitations from PollUnit.

You can invite participants by visiting the admin link. Here you find a tap »Invite«. This should be preselected when invitation is required. Here you find a button »Invite« which opens the invitation dialogue.

At the moment the invitations are needed to cast a vote. This protects your contest from multiple votes. Even if invitation is required all people knowing your link can access your contest (when not protected with a password).
All people who can access your contest can submit new entries (when allowed in the contest settings).

We are already working on a solution which requires an invitation for submitting entries. But this is not done right now. I will inform you in this post once it is ready.

With »Allow access only with invitation« users without an invitation can not access your contest. This means they can not see any pictures or votes. They can also not submit new images. For now this is the only way to allow submitting images to only invited users.

When I added this question and read your response I was able to find »invite« to tap and see how to put in email addresses. Now I cannot find it again. How do I open the invitation dialogue?

Never mind… I see that I had to "Finish" editing after selecting "Invitation Required" in order for the Manage Invitations dialogue to show.

Now I want to turn off Invitation Required for testing purposes, and it doesn't turn off when I click on the button again in the edit mode. How can I turn it off?

Did you click "Finish" again to turn it off?

When I clicked on the red button for Invitation Required, the red still showed, so when I clicked “Finish” and went back the button was still on (red).

I am not sure what you mean. Could you send a screenshot and the link to your PollUnit to support@pollunit.com?

Yes, thank you.

I appreciate your help and am trying to understand these two related functions.

I'm Sending a screenshot showing that both the "Invitation Required" button and the "Allow access only with invitation" buttons are selected. I think I want only the "Allow access only with invitation button. I cannot turn off the Invitation Required button. What effect will this have on who can submit photos or vote?

I already answered you email. I also add a answer here…

When »Invitation required« and »Allow access only with invitation« is selected only a user who has received an invitation can access your PollUnit. All others can not see your PollUnit. This also effects submitting photos because a user without access can't upload a photo.

The »Allow access only with invitation« feature is only available in combination with an invitation.
