We are using PollUnit also for photocontests with embedding the poll in our website. So far so good. Functionality should be that a user can see/modify only his own photo in Upload phase.
In Voting phase he should not be able to vote it's own photo, and he should be able to return a next day to his votings seeing what he did previous day. This worked perfectly last year.
Is there recently something changed in the functionality of PollUnit? We suffer that users loose their previous information and every login seen as a new user. The results of the voting are correctly stored in the poll, but not visible in the client of the user.
Also we found that the embedding code seems to be changed?
We found in the code
script src="https://pollunit.com/embed/v2/parent_code.js"
integrity="***"
crossorigin="anonymous">
/script
Are we doing something wrong? Are there any instructions how users has to act when they want to be recognized by returning in the poll? Is there something to say about cookie-handling?
Thx, Jan Terpstra

We recently had to update our embedding code because some major browsers introduced new restrictions that broke the previous version. Functionally, it should still work the same way as before.
Cookies are still required to identify visitors and maintain their session. We set a cookie on your site, which is then used to recognize returning visitors. The session ends as soon as this cookie is deleted. It’s possible that your logout function also removes the PollUnit cookie?
If you have returning visitors over a longer period, we recommend enabling the »PollUnit account required« feature. This allows users to log in from any device to submit, vote, and edit their entries. However, please note that this feature is not available in embedded mode.
Hi Markus, thanks for your quick reply, appreciated!
Question remains: is this "We recently had to update our embedding code" causing cookie problems for embedding still in the old format?
Thx, Jan Terpstra
Oh, sorry, I missed that question!
The old embedding code is deprecated and will not work. You need to change it to the new one. You should have received a warning email, as we were required to upgrade this. You can find more details in our poll embedding tutorial.
Hi Markus
We sure did not receive any warning email about this issue/modification.
We are not sure the reason for this. Maybe we had no actif embedding on the moment of the mail? Can you give us sender and date of this warning email? Or maybe we (pollunit@almeersefotoclub.nl) are missing on your mailinglist?
We will modify our future photocontests as required, thank you!
