I'm testing a new photo contest Pollunit. I have a landing page and three Pollunit contests (different categories of photos) branching out from the landing page.
People submitted photos successfully. But when they try to go back and vote they get this error message.
What's going on?
I guess you activated the »invitation required« feature for voters. If so, your voters need to be invited to vote.
So how do I invite someone to submit photos and be able to vote?
I sent an invite to someone to participate. He submitted photos. Now I want him to be able to vote. He goes back to the same link and gets the error message.
Do I have to send to separate invitations to someone who is submitting photos and voting?
Sorry for the late response, I need some information from a developer.
A submitter do not need an invitation. The invitation required feature is to restrict voting or to avoid fraudulent multiple voting.
The invitation required feature is currently working on a single contest basis. So a voter need to follow the exact uniq one time link he or she receives by the invitation. This means each contest you connected with the landing page has a uniq invitation link per invitee. The landing page can currently not offer these uniq links for your invitees. They need to follow each invitation link in the email for voting (not submitting).
But we are working on a better solution right now. You will be able to invite voters on a landing page level which will resolve this issue. This feature will be released in the next weeks.
This is disappointing. This just isn't going to work for us. I can't be sending three different invitations to everyone that is going to vote for the photos in the three categories. It will be a nightmare to manage and very user unfriendly.
Also, if people that are submitting photos don't need an invitation does that mean ANYONE can submit photos? I need to limit the participation to people in our photo club.
If these things won't work I'm going to be requesting a refund so I can find a platform that will.
You can activate »Apply restriction also to visitors« which hides the complete contest from all users who do not meet the security setting.
Since you are talking about a photo club, I would recommend either »Invitation and PollUnit account required« or »External authentication provider« with your own SSO provider. This is the only way to ensure that recurring users from different devices get access. With »Invitation required« a one-time link is sent. If this link is lost or the user changes the device, the user will no longer have access.
We also have other security set ups which may fulfil your needs.
If you want to keep the »Invitation required« setting and use one invitation for a complete landing page with all sub contests you need to wait for the feature release.
A refund is also no problem, just write to support@pollunit.com.
You can now invite user via a landing page.
Invitations will be synced with all PollUnits belonging to that landing page.
I am trying hard to make PollUnit work for my needs. Here is how I want it to work:
1) For a period of time I want club members to be able to submit up to two photos in each of three categories (i.e. landscape, portrait, nightscape).
2) Following that I want to allow club members to vote once for each of the three categories.
I've created a Landing page and added three PollUnits to the landing page.
Questions:
1) How do I restrict image submissions to club members?
2) How do I restrict the number of images submissions for each member?
3) Is it possible to require a password to submit images?
4) How do I restrict voting to club members?
5) How do I limit the number of votes per member?
Thanks.
1) How do I restrict image submissions to club members?
At the moment you can only disable access to the whole PollUnit. For this you need the »invitation required« or organization SSO feature security setting. Then you can check »Apply restriction also to visitors«.
Alternatively you can manually workaround this with our approval dashboard.
We have planned to build something like our voting restrictions also for submitters.
2) How do I restrict the number of images submissions for each member?
If you check »Allow image upload« in the advanced step you can also check »Limit images per participant« and enter the allowed number of images per PollUnit.
3) Is it possible to require a password to submit images?
No, you can only require a password for all.
4) How do I restrict voting to club members?
To restrict voting you need to choose one of our security mechanisms. High security goes with more hurdles for users. For a high security you need »Invitation required« or your own organization SSO.
5) How do I limit the number of votes per member?
I am not sure what you mean. We have different voting methods. With superlative voting users need to choose one / the best image. With our dot voting you can create more complex voting rules. The voting type can be chosen in the first step.
