Where is the setting that requires a user to vote on each option in a poll

I am sure that is a feature here, but I just can't find it. I want the user to be required to vote on all options in order for their vote to count. Can someone tell me where that setting is. Thanks!

Oh yeah, that one is a no brainer. Any idea when that feature will be added? Would love to use it in our next poll. 🙏

I need to discuss this with the team first. I'll do that on Wednesday. I think there's a good chance it'll become one of our next features.

That said, it will take some time to implement because our current architecture processes and counts every vote immediately. So I wouldn't expect this feature to be available within the next few days. 😉

Obviously, you would want this to be just an option. the default would probably be how it is now, users can opt to not vote on everything. but adding the option to make the user complete all votes in order for any of their votes to count is a good addition to the toolset.

Planned behavior

• Votes are saved immediately.
• If this setting is enabled, the votes are initially not included in the results.
• As soon as a participant has voted on all required options, all of their votes are automatically activated and included in the results.
• Options that a participant is not allowed to vote on, for example, their own submission when self-voting is disabled, are not considered missing and therefore do not prevent their votes from being counted.
• Once a participant has been marked as having completed all required votes, they remain in that state unless they remove one of their votes.
• Adding new options after a participant has already completed all required votes does not automatically invalidate their completed status.
• A participant is only marked as incomplete again if they delete one of their existing votes.
• Changes to voting eligibility after completion (for example, newly approved submissions or submissions that become eligible after a required entry fee has been paid) do not automatically trigger a re-evaluation of completed participants.

In general, this feature is intended to be used once the submission phase has finished and the set of eligible voting options is considered stable. While changes are technically possible afterwards, participants who have already completed all required votes are not automatically re-evaluated.

If you have a specific use case in mind, I'd love to hear about it. Please describe how you plan to use this feature and any edge cases you think should be supported. This helps us validate the design and ensure the implementation works well for real-world scenarios.

Which PollUnit product are you using? Are you creating a photo contest, running an online vote, or building a survey?

wow, so many things to consider there. You guys are awesome. For use, we plan to use this for users to vote in a few different polls to help with the title and cover imagery for our next book. and we want them to rank (using stars) every option without skipping any. So that is our use case: first with text for the book title, then ranking images for the cover imagery.

One thing that you didn't mention above is that the user needs to be made aware that they need to complete all the votes in order for their votes to count. When I have done this on other sites, you make all your votes, then you hit a "submit" type button to cast your votes. at that stage if the user has skipped one or two options (either on purpose or by accident) there is a pop-up or error message that says "you have missed one or more options, please vote on all options before hitting submit". as the worst scenario is that say you have 10 options, the user comes, they vote on 9 of them…there is no "submit" button at the bottom, so they think those 9 votes have been cast, they close the tab of that browser, and none of their 9 votes get cast (in that case I would hope those 9 votes would get saved, even if the poll creator said "must vote on all options"….and you would give the poll creator the option to go back afterwards to count those votes, as they are still very valuable to the poll creator. but hopefully it doesn't come to that, and you guys can come up with a way to clearly let the users know they must vote in all for them to count…and to me, having a submit button at the bottom (which users are VERY used to on the web, even if it is a bit Web 1.0, so it won't be foreign to them). obviously the other polls, that don't require voting on all options, won't need a submit button.
