I cloned my photo contest to determine voting functionality. I allow 5 images per person. I clicked on the CATEGORIES box and entered 3 different category name.
I uploaded 5 test images but I don't see where the participant uploading an image can select a category. I looked at the guide but I didn't find information on it there either. How is this accomplished?
At the moment we only have a voting category feature. All uploaded images can be voted in all voting categories.
But you can achieve the behavior you want with a small workaround: You create a PollUnit for each category and link it in the description and/or on the thank you page.
We have planned to make this more simple in the future.
Thanks Markus and now understand how the voting category feature works. I will take a look at your linking options as well.
I see the [] but what is the syntax to add multiple categories in that box? [cat] [dog] [bird] or [cat,dog,bird] [cat;dog;bird] I've tried a few ways and it always only has 1 voting box per photo.

usually you should enter them just comma separated like: cat, dog, bird
But it sounds there is problem with this component.

Feature Release: »Submission Categories«
When creating a Video, Music, or Photo Contest, you can now add custom submission categories. These categories allow you to divide your contest into different themes or genres. Participants select a category when uploading their entries, and submissions compete only within their chosen category.
You'll find these options in the first step of the contest creation process.
