Photo contest with slider or dot voting not showing the value

When voting on a image in a photo contest you don't see the value of the dots or the slider at first.
For the slider it shows by example the 1 and 10 but nothing in between, for the dots when having 10 there are no values.
The values only come after there is one selection made on the dot or with the slider once.
Delete the vote and start over the vote, now the value is shown under the cursor when sliding or passing over the dot.
Is it possible to see the value number directly at the start? Show value on mouse over? Or values above the dots or a scale above the slider?

Hi Eddy,
Thank you for the feedback! You do not need to delete the vote, but you can just adjust it after the first value is saved.
But we see what we can do, to see the value before saving the vote.
Kind regards
Philipp

I believe that displaying a numerical value prior to voting would be inappropriate, as there exists a distinction between not having voted and having voted with a score of 0. This discrepancy becomes particularly evident in systems employing range voting, where the standard calculation considers only the options that have received votes. Consequently, presenting a numerical value to the user in such cases would be inaccurate or misleading.

I can understand that it is a problem to show a value when someone wants to let it stay with 0.
But having no clue where what numeric value you are choosing when sliding the first time.
When voting by dots numeric values on top op the dots could help a lot.
Now every time, when you have 10 point maximum, you have to count yourself the dots. Or one must click and if it's not correct click again.
With the slider it also the same, you slide until you think that it is the correct value, but it is often 1 point less or 1 to much.
If a person would want a 0, proceeding to the next image would keep it 0. When selected a value, deleting the vote does the job.
Having numeric values as text above or under the the slider or dots could help.
Thanks for taking care and quick reply.

Update released: As soon as a user starts sliding we now show the number above the slider handle.

We will not modify the voting behavior to facilitate automatic votes while sliding through images. The user must actively take an action to cast a vote. Abstaining from voting is distinct from assigning a vote of zero or opting for a neutral allocation of points. Additionally, poll creators have the flexibility to define their voting range, such as voting on a scale from 1 to 4, eliminating a middle ground. Furthermore, when a user retracts votes and subsequently slides through images again, it becomes uncertain what action the user intends to take.

I keep you posted for updates in our dot rating interface.

Thank you very much.
I have only tried it out on a few images and it looks perfect .
This gives the voter confidence from the first vote on that he/she is on the correct value.

We have been testing the slider voting, in the Photo Contest, and it works like a charm.
Thanks again for a superb solution.
