How can I create a poll with photos put in subject categories, such as Landscape, Portraiture, Monochrome, etc., please? I don't want to create a separate poll for each subject. The "category" facility on PollUnit seems only suited to vote on technical, composition, impact and other facets within a photo.

Has there been any progress on this? It's hard to ask people to vote on a category when they don't know what photos are in which categories.
We have a new feature Landing Page. You still need to create a contest per subject category. But the Landing Page allows you to group all your contest on one page. Then you can share the link to the Landing Page or invite users via the Landing Page.
It is still planned to make this more easy without the need of a Landing Page.

You still need to create one contest per category and link them on a landing page when you want people to submit in specific categories.
We also have a voting category feature which allows you to rate images in the same contest in different categories. For example when creating a halloween voting with categories like scariest, best couple, most creative.

Feature Release: »Submission Categories«
When creating a Video, Music, or Photo Contest, you can now add custom submission categories. These categories allow you to divide your contest into different themes or genres. Participants select a category when uploading their entries, and submissions compete only within their chosen category.
You'll find these options in the first step of the contest creation process.
