I find the text on the site hard to read. The shape of the letters in the default font is challenging to read comfortably. And some characters are easily confused (e.g. Il1). Using a different font for body text, one that is designed for ease of reading (e.g. Inter, Source Sans, Atkinson Hyperlegible, Fira Sans) and has features that make it is to distinguish similar characters.
Also, the size of the font often contributes to it being hard to read. It would be nice to have fluid typography sizing (resize as the screen does). Or a larger base size with a modular scale.
Color is another factor that plays into readability. And it would be great if all color contrast ratios met WCAG 2.2 Level AA guidelines (https://www.w3.org/TR/WCAG22/#contrast-minimum).
There are a lot of other great accessibility items in WCAG 2.2 to consider implementing as well. But, making everything easier to read and interact with would be great!
Thanks!
Hi Scott,
Sorry we did not see your forum post.
Can you tell us where the content is not good to read? Maybe also with screenshots?
Kind regards
Philipp
Hi Philipp,
Most of the text in the app is hard for me to read. The default font family (Hansom FY) and font weight (300) make it challenging for me. Especially if the font size is less than 20px.

Here is Inter as the default font of this UI:

And this is Fira Sans:

And increasing the contrast of interactive UI, like links, would help too.
Thanks,

Ok, we are going to discuss this. Thank you for the feedback!
Our latest upgrade includes several readability improvements. We've increased the font size of smaller texts and enhanced the contrast, especially in polls using dark themes. We’ll share any further updates here.
We've rolled out another update: We've increased the weight of our light font to enhance readability significantly.
Does your update include font options for creators to select from?
Our themes allow you to choose from a selection of basic font styles, but not from a full list of fonts. However, you can host your own font and use our custom CSS, which is also part of the theme, to define and apply your own font faces.
I just found this forum and it is interesting.
I love all sorts of weird and wonderful fonts and use them extensively but when one gets down to business, legibility takes precedence.
My background involved cipher and signals in the forces where it was vital that each letter or number not to be confused. We would have rejected the font in this message due to the upward curl on the tail of the number 9 for example and the down curl for the number 6. It makes it too easy to confuse the numbers 3, 6, 8 & 9 and letters such as B.
In the examples , the fonts Atkinson Hyperlegible & Fira Sans are very legible. They are so good I intend to use one of these to replace the font I use now. Some people I correspond with have poor eyesight and I believe they will appreciate these fonts.
I admire the way PollUnit listens to their users.
