I created a "survey" so users could rank choices...however there is a flaw

When a user lands on the page, they could move one or two items (or none) and hit submit…without really thinking about what ranking the items should be in.

What should happen is that the user should be presented with the list of options they need to rank, and they should drag them into the slots they think they go in. They should see all options on one screen (assuming there is less than 20 or so options) and drag them into the slot they think that option should rank. They can obviously reorder it as much as they want, but at the very least this will make the user vote on each option and not just move one or two things from the random options they are presented with when they land on the poll and hit submit.

Hi Mike,
when the user does not change the random order presented and submits this, there is a warning, that the ranking should be adjusted.
Kind regards
Philipp

But if they just move one item to a new location, they can hit submit, with only having basically ranked one item out of the full list. The way I can imagine this working to get the users to actually make a choice for all items is to have all the options on the left, and the users would drag and drop them into the slot on the right in the position they want the item to rank. that way they need to make a call for each item being ranked…and you don't get into a situation with a "lazy poll voter" who skews the results because they just move one item, click save, and their vote counts the same as someone who takes the time to reorder them all.

know what I mean? I, as I am sure you guys are, all about getting the best clean data possible.

Hey Philipp & Markus. Thanks for all the thoughtful replies.

I just tested it in an incognito window:

#1. The poll never asked me for my name or email to take the poll. In the settings I unchecked the section that said "anonymize voters"…but I don't see any place to require they enter a name and email to vote. where is that setting?
#2. I viewed the page with all the choices.
#3. I left that page (it gave a pop-up that said "Do you really want to vote with this sorting…you can move the arrows to adjust sorting) Screenshot of that pop: https://www.honeytrek.com/images/pc0yjHnzSR.jpg
#4. Then I look at my results and it takes ALL of their votes as if that is how they ranked them.

This is a horrible setup, as this allows the users to not really do anything, maybe move one item, and it counts all the other votes, which were randomly placed, as if the user actually sorted it that way, completely nulifying any data. Here are the votes that just counted when I viewed the poll, hit next, and didn't rank a single vote
