Bulk Input

Does the free version allow bulk input of say 50 songs that I want to get votes on to put in order for a jam? Do I have to input each song one at a time?

Yes, all plans allow bulk uploads for admins. In the poll creator, you will find the uploader for most poll types in step 2 of the setup wizard.

Please keep the file limits of each plan in mind. The free plan only allows a limited number of files per poll. You can find an overview of our current plans and limits here: PollUnit Plans & Pricing

As a workaround, you could also split the songs across multiple polls if needed.

Can you give me the steps to create a poll using the free version with a single questions with 50 song options allowing multiple choices and typed responses for additional song requests? I can't seem to get into the Wizard.

First, you need to choose which type of PollUnit you would like to use. A good starting point is our Build Helper. Simply click on your preferred type and you will be guided through the setup wizard.

You could create a simple Voting for audio files, or use our dedicated Music Contest type.

With both types, you can allow participants to upload their own options, which in your case would be audio files. Alternatively, you could enable comments so users can submit song requests through the comment section.

Please note that the free plan currently does not support uploading 50 songs to a single poll. For that, you would need a Premium plan.

Another option would be to create a Video Contest using YouTube links instead of file uploads. This way, you would not run into the file upload limit.

I just want to add text voting for 50 songs so participants can go down the list and pick the songs that they want us to play. I can't see where I can copy / paste the 50 songs into my poll as separate options for participants to pick. It is making me add them one by one using "Add Option"

When creating a simple text voting, you can add options in step 2 of the wizard. If you already created the voting, open the context menu (three dots in the upper right corner) and click »Edit«. Then click »Next« to proceed from step 1 to step 2.

So I have to add 50 options one at a time copy/pasting the text for each song? I cant do a copy paste of all 50 songs to 50 different options all at once?

No, this feature is currently not on our roadmap. However, we have already considered adding an option import via Excel or CSV files.

In addition, we are currently working on an API that will allow you to create polls and options programmatically.

Could you share an example file you currently use to copy or manage your songs? Maybe we could support this format as a new feature in the future. You can send this to support@pollunit.com.

The songs that I would like to poll are in a single column on Excel. I could easily copy them into Word if necessary.

OK great! So a basic Excel import would also cover your use case? I’ll keep you updated here if we decide to implement this feature.

Basic excel import would be awesome. Thank you for your patience with me, your support and your excitement to incorporate enhancements!

We are already working on this feature. I let you know when we release the update.

Feature Release: Text Option Import

You can now import text options via CSV, Excel, and TXT files.

You mentioned that you are using Excel. In your case, you just need to make sure all song titles are placed in the first column of your spreadsheet. The importer scans each row and automatically imports the first non-empty text cell as a text option.

This feature does not only work for votings, it is now also possible to import options into surveys, for example in rating steps or Likert scale steps.
