Opt-in, double opt-in, privacy policies, terms and conditions
We start by saying that we are a service provider and you as creator determine which data must be indicated in your PollUnits. This can be anything from absolutely anonymous to any personal data. If the latter applies in your case, we now make it even easier for you to create GDPR-compliant photo competitions, brainstorming sessions, tables and votings.
If you collect or process personal data, the person concerned must be informed. Data is personal if it can be clearly assigned to a specific natural person. This includes information such as name, address, e-mail, telephone number, etc. .
You should also determine the legal scope for your event. This is important, for example, when it comes to the rights of use of uploaded photos.
You can now enter your own terms and conditions and privacy policies. This information can be accessed directly in your PollUnit via link. It is also possible to have the terms as well as the privacy policies explicitly confirmed by Opt-In before participation. If the participant does not check the checkbox, he cannot continue.
Depending on the collected personal data, opt-in may not be sufficient. For such a case we have implemented a Double-Opt-In procedure. Here the participant must additionally agree in a subsequent confirmation e-mail.
This is useful, for example, if consent to the use of the e-mail address is requested - as in the case of a newsletter registration. Without the consent in the confirmation e-mail, it cannot be proven whether a third person has registered with the e-mail address. So in case of a dispute you are always on the safe side with a Double-Opt-In!

Opt-in, double opt-in, priv...Submission approval dashboard
Many of our tools are used to collect content. This includes photo competitions where photographers can submit their pictures, feedback and lists of ideas, as well as date polls.
PollUnit makes it as easy as possible for your users to upload their content or add new ideas and options. The participants just need to know the link to your PollUnit - without registration or login.
To check, approve or reject the submissions, there is now the Submission Approval Dashboard.
Before the newly added content is published in your PollUnit, you can conveniently view it on your smartphone or computer and subject it to a quality control. Only after your approval, the new contents will be published. You can activate the Submission Approval Dashboard in the settings of your PollUnit. The approval function is available for all our PollUnit types.

Submission approval dashboardRetrospective 2019; Outlook 2020
We look back on an eventful year 2019. With almost 600 updates, we have not only released numerous improvements and functions, but also fulfilled user requests. We released three new PollUnit types, integrated Slack, created private and group ICS feeds, translated PollUnit into French and enabled the administration of organizations and their members.
The biggest innovations are the new PollUnit types.
With Free Tables you can create online lists and tables in which your members can register themselves in rows.
With our idea collections you can do brainstormings and collecting feature requests. The suggestions or ideas can be posted and discussed online.
Host your own online photo contest and let users rate existing photos or allow your participants to submit their own photos.
The main points of our Roadmap 2019 are almost completely fulfilled. The extremely high demand for photo competitions has prompted us to postpone the questionnaires until next year and bring the competition forward. And so we have already reached the most important question:
What will happen in 2020?
Surveys will allow you to ask several consecutive questions. For this purpose, various answer types will be offered for selection.
In a submission approval dashboard, user-generated options, images and photos can be approved or rejected. Only after an administrator has reviewed the content, it will be visible for the participants of your PollUnit.
We will improve our photo contests published at the end of 2019 and add new features like image export.
And of course we are still looking forward to your feedback and feature requests. Feel free to write us at support@pollunit.com. Until then we wish you a good start into the new year!

Retrospective 2019; Outlook...Choose a master logo and master theme
Today we have an update for our users of themes and logos. Since you can upload several logos to PollUnit and create as many themes as you want, we have now made it possible to choose masters.
If you mark a logo or theme as master, these will be automatically pre-selected when creating a new poll, idea collection or photo contest. In the step »Design« when creating the PollUnit, the logo and theme can be changed if desired.
Users who manage several organizations and members in PollUnit can choose one master logo and master theme per organization.

Today's update allows you to disable voting in your PollUnits. This feature is primarily intended for our idea collections and photo contests. So you can start your PollUnit and collect only the content of your participants.
This allows you, for example, to organize your online photo contest in two phases. In the first phase, the photographers upload their pictures. As an administrator, you can start the competition's second phase at any time. This activates the voting process. You can decide whether you want to deactivate the upload of photos or whether you want to continue.
You can also deactivate the upvoting function when collecting ideas.
You will find the necessary functions when creating and editing your PollUnit in the Advanced Settings. Here you can change the configuration at any time. An admin can also start voting directly from the PollUnit.

With the last update it is now possible to leave comments without login. Our comment function now behaves in the same way as the restriction of the voting participants. So you can decide if participants can comment with or without account or only with an invitation.
Our Login-free Comments lower the barrier and simplify user interactions in your PollUnits. In the simplest case, not even a name is required.
You will find the necessary settings in the »Advanced« step when you create your PollUnit. Try it out right away, for small teams our poll maker is free.

Allow users to post comment...Direct voting without account, login or other data
When we released our voting software a few years ago, it was about the creation of prioritizations, elections, or scheduling in which users and their identity played a very important role. Therefore, the indication of a user name was obligatory until today.
Recently a few new PollUnit types have been added, where the focus is no longer on the voters, but on the participants adding options or pictures. This includes our photo contest and our idea collections and feedback lists.
In the advanced settings, you can decide for yourself if your voting participants have to enter a name. If you deselect the option »Voters must enter names«, the user can immediately vote and we automatically create a UUID for the voter. With this UUID the voters can be identified in the evaluation.
This makes it as easy as possible for your participants to cast their votes; without opt-in hurdle or any input - just click and go!

At the end of last month we introduced our new feature »Collect additional information«. With this feature you can request any data from voting participants, i.e. users can vote.
With our current update, you can now also collect additional data from option creators and image uploaders in your photo contests.
This allows you to request different information for voters and contributors of any kind. This information is only visible for administrators and can be viewed and exported in our evaluation.

With our sharing dialog, admins and participants can publish your polls in several ways.
These include the social media platforms Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Pinterest as well as e-mail and WhatsApp. You can also generate a QR code to print it on flyers or to present it at a live event on the big screen.
The sharing function can be found in the context menu of the PollUnit - either directly in the PollUnit or in the overview of all PollUnits.
Today we have a little update for you. In the step "Invite" of the poll maker you can now decide whether the Share dialog for participants should be hidden or shown.

Voting on photos and images has been one of our most important functions since the beginning of PollUnit. Our system was designed to collaborate with colleagues and customers on graphics. You quickly load a set of new icons or product designs into your PollUnit and receive feedback in real time.
That's why we are very happy to introduce you to a new PollUnit type. Starting today, PollUnit allows you to create online photo contests that have been optimized for a large number of photographs. Likewise, the focus here is not on the participants and their votes, but on the work of the photographer. An easy to use gallery with large thumbnails improves the experience of your participants.
We are curious how you like our competition feature and look forward to your feedback!
In addition, we have made some performance optimizations, which greatly speed up the loading of images in your PollUnits.
