A new invitation workflow for our poll maker
Right from the start, you were guided through five simple steps when using our poll website to create your votings. From the basic settings, to the content of your poll, the design, advanced settings and last but not least the invitation to your PollUnit. That changes now!
The last step »Invite« is removed. Instead you will be directed to your PollUnit. Here you can see what you have created and may make changes. The functions from the »Invite« step are now directly accessible in your PollUnit. We have also simplified switching between admin- and participant view. The workflow is now: Configure > Check > Invite. We think that feels really good - but we are always happy about feedback!
At this point, we would also like to thank you for all the feedback, which has led us to make this change.
The workflow changes for all our PollUnit types.
Stay healthy!

Single-Sign-On allows your users to authenticate themselves to PollUnit using the existing identity providers of your company. This means that your users only have to register once in the company network and can then use the services of PollUnit without a new user name and password.
The saved login time and reduced administrative effort increases productivity and usability for your employees. Since your employees do not have to create, update or reset any additional passwords, the SSO procedure also increases security and reduces the workload of your IT department.
As an Enterprise customer, you can now register one Single-Sign-On-Provider per PollUnit organization.

After we released our YouTube video contests as a public beta version about 4 weeks ago, we now have the first update. You can now also add videos from the video portal Vimeo.
Vimeo is a platform where anyone can upload their own videos via a free account. PollUnit now allows you to combine these videos into a video contest and vote on the content. The usual PollUnit evaluation methods are available to you. Besides Vimeo videos, YouTube videos can also be added.

We have two brand new PollUnit types for you. Furthermore, there is now the PollUnit Lab - a place for experiments, fulfilled user wishes and ideas of our developers. All functions in the lab are released as public beta versions. That means they are 100% functional but haven't been used extensively and we are especially missing user feedback. So try it out and give feedback.
But now to the new functions...
YouTube contests allow you to create polls for different YouTube videos. Your participants can post their links and you or your jury can vote for them.
Music contests allow you to create playlists, upload MP3s, listen to and rate them. Not only suitable for contests, but also for bands that want to share their playlists with fans.
Both PollUnit types use most of our standard PollUnit functions. So you can change the voting type, define deadlines, comment, restrict access etc.
You are missing a function that would fit well to PollUnit? Asking costs nothing! At support@pollunit.com or in the forum we might be able to help you.

Now in public beta: YouTube...Increase the conversion rate with social media tags
Using meta tags like Facebook's Open Graph tags, we have some control over how information is transferred from PollUnit to Facebook and other social services. This allows the social networks to automatically create a post for their news feed.
Now you can take control of how social networks display your PollUnit! You only need to define a title, description and preview image to present your PollUnit in the best possible way on social networks.
Even if you don't want to publish your PollUnit in a Facebook or Twitter post, it makes sense to use the social media tags. For example, if one of your participants shares your photo contest on Facebook or sends the link to friends via WhatsApp or Slack, the social media tags are automatically read out and a preview is created. This preview is then displayed in the newsfeed or in the messanger.
With the right targeting and optimized preview image, you can achieve a greater reach. In the best case, this will lead to your PollUnit being shared widely and lead to more participants. So this is a measure that aims to increase the conversion rate.

Increase the conversion rat...Automate your voting and submission periods
Controlling you votings and running photo contests is getting more easy.
Our deadline function has been updated! Now it is also possible not only to set an expiration date for the voting, but to automate the whole submission and voting process. Determine when your participants can submit photos or ideas, when the submission phase ends, when voting starts and ends.
Participants who create an account are informed about status changes and reminded to participate in the different phases.
So sit back, enjoy a coffee and watch your photo contest or voting develop fully automated in its phases.

Automate your voting and su...Range voting: Rate options or images with numbers
Score voting (Range voting, Rated Voting) is a particularly general and expressive method of voting. It is a voting procedure in which options and pictures are rated with points from a given interval. The voters can rate each option independently of the others.
A particularly widespread and easy-to-understand voting method is the star rating. Large marketplaces like Amazon and Co. rely on the form in which voters have the opportunity to rate products with stars. Especially popular are the 5-star ratings. If you decide on a star rating at PollUnit, you can determine how many stars, but not more than 10, your participants may vote from.
If a scale from 1 to 10 is not enough, there is now also the possibility to create scales from 0 to 100 with the new range voting. As creator you can determine the start and end of the scale. For example, you can allow voters to rate options and photos between 0 and 20 or between 7 and 50.
The voting is done with the help of a slider. Your users can move a small handle to the left and right on the scale you have created and choose a number.

With our new feature »Limit submissions« we are especially targeting our photo competition creators. Nevertheless, the function is also applicable for all other PollUnit types. A short example:
With PollUnit, you can easily run and customize your own photo contests.
You can show a button that allows users to upload their photos into your gallery. If you define a maximum number of submissions, users can only submit as many images as you have specified. For example, if you want to limit participants to submit only one picture.
So it's up to you: Choose your rules and run a photo contest!

PollUnit now also speaks Spanish. Not perfect yet, but our Spanish beta version already helps to run photo contests, polls and tables in Spain, South America and everywhere where Spanish is spoken.
Why beta? More languages were actually planned for next year and don't really fit into our roadmap for this year. But at the same time our Spanish and South American friends are especially affected by the Corona crisis and need more than ever the possibility to vote online. So we dare an experiment and use an AI to translate our texts and revise them with our Spanish community. That means you can help us to improve and suggest changes to our texts. Just write an e-mail to support@pollunit.com or leave a message in our Support Forum.
We are curious how this experiment works, what you think about it and hope to provide you with more languages in the near future.
The Spanish version of PollUnit can be found at pollunit.com/es.

¡QUÉ GUAY!Evaluate and view camera settings
When a digital camera takes a photo, it usually stores all kinds of information about the circumstances of the shot in the photo. This includes technical information such as ISO, shutter speed and aperture. This information determines how the camera has exposed the picture. For many photographers and photo clubs these metadata are therefore of great importance.
With the help of the EXIF data (Exchangeable Image File Format), you can verify whether the settings for the motif have been chosen sensibly. Many members of photo clubs use this information as a technical basis for discussion.
If you run a PollUnit photo contest, you can publish these details for your participants. As administrator you can also access the extended EXIF data of the photos without having to download the photos. The extended metadata includes time and place, correction filters and processing presets. The photographers can adjust, add or remove the EXIF data of their photos with image programs.
